JAMIE STEEDMAN

Jamie is a motion graphic designer, film and video editor originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. He has been working professionally in the production industry in London since 2007. With many years experience in filmmaking and the production industry, Jamie has worked across a broad range of industries and sectors from corporate film to advertising, TV Broadcasting and the film industry.
Moving across so many sectors, Jamie Steedman has worked with high profile businesses such as ENVY, the Conran Design Group, Saatchi and Saatchi and brands such as VICHY, Chanel and Google among countless others throughout his career.
One of Jamie’s notable projects was working with the Hollywood composer Ella Leya in 2020 on her directorial debut film Leila’s Violin starring Sofia Rosinkski. The film was been shortlisted for the 2022 ANGEL FILM AWARDS / Monaco International Film Festival (MIFF) and it won the award for Sofia Rosinsky as ‘Best Newcomer’.
Jamie works freelance through his company Flayr FX. As well as his motion design work, Jamie creates and sells motion graphics products on the Flayr FX website and also tutorial videos on learning Adobe After Effects. Alongside Jamie’s motion design and editing skills, he is also experience in print graphic design and dabbles in Illustration with some techniques. He is also an accomplished storyboard creator with illustrative, character driven and infographic styles.
Jamie is constantly keeping up with currently trends and is currently testing all the new AI tools being released to discover new use cases.

During the pandemic, Jamie switched his creative talents in design to designing and building a stock motion graphics website. He created over a thousand stock media clips, some of which he sells on Pond5 to this day. Along side this, was a decision to focus his brand more on the motion design aspect of his career being that this was what everyone had come to know Jamie for. He opened up a new company called Flayr FX specifically to reflect this design focus.
Jamie closed down Flayr Media in 2022, and continued on his freelance motion design career through Flayr FX. A big push further into advertising came with contracts at world renowned agencies such as Saatchi and Saatchi. In 2020 Jamie was also approached by the Hollywood composer Ella Leya, famous for her music in such productions as Dirty Sexy Money and Oceans 12. He was asked to re-edit a short film she had written and directed for the Monaco International Film Festival called ‘Leila’s Violin‘ starring Sofia Rosinksi. Jamie also created a variety of VFX for the movie which eventually went on to win the best newcomer award at the MIFF.
Jamie is currently focused on working through Flayr FX with his regular clients as well as developing new client relationships, delving deep into digital design, current trends, social media content creation. He is also developing his use and experience of new AI technologies which are moving at an ever increasing fast pace.

In 2015 Jamie took the bold step to start his own limited company. Whilst still operating as a freelancer, this made the ultimate sense to build a brand and a recognisable face within the production industry where he worked. Jamie developed and design the Flayr brand, creating his logo and designing all the other elements. At this time Jamie also stated working majorly in advertising with contracts at such places as Conran Design Group, ENVY Advertising, SMP, Merceica and many other great marketing agencies.
Jamie also continued to build a solid client base of regular retiring happy clients, working across sectors from advertising to corporate film and motion picture. In 2017, Jamie was given a great opportunity to build the visual effects for the trailer and the whole feature film, The Unseen by Gary Sinyor. This project would lead on to a lot more film work in the future.

On arriving in London Jamie set a 5 year plan to be freelance working for himself in Soho production houses in the space of 5 years. This is exactly what happened and after 5 years of working permanently at MerchantCantos, Jamie embarked on a freelance career, opting to work as a sole trader for the first few years to keep things simple.
During this time, Jamie had started from scratch with zero contacts in the industry or freelance world. He quickly struck up an amazing professional client relationship with a fantastic events company in Wandsworth called ‘Involve’ and spent a majority of his time on their event campaign video work. He was creating animations, motion graphics and editing videos. In addition to working in Involve Jamie also spent time working in a variety of other production companies, marketing and creative agencies and some film work.
2007 - 2012

PRODUCTION RUNNER | VIDEO EDITOR | CAMERA OPERATOR
In 2007, Jamie returned from New York and after a couple of months of job searching Jamie was offered a role as a production runner in a London, Holborn-based production company called ‘Cantos Communications’. This is a production company still around today, which has gone through many transformations in its 25 year history, first merging with sister company Merchant to become MerchantCantos, and then merging into its parent company called Brunswick and becoming Brunswick Creative.
Jamie started working on motion graphics, video editing and professional camera operating from day one in the company, receiving two promotions, first to video editor, then to camera operator and editor. Among the many projects Jamie worked on, he regularly filmed FTSE100 CEO interviews with such figures as John Varley and Michael Geoghegan, editing them into financial results interviews.
As well as this, he worked on a range of internal programmes and external documentaries. Jamie worked here for 5 years in total.
